As you may already have heard VAT payments due between 20 March and 30 June 2020 can be deferred due to Covid-19. But you still need to submit your VAT return on time.
You do not need to advise HMRC that you are deferring your payment, non-payment is advise enough. Remember to cancel any Direct Debit you have with HMRC unless you do want to make your payment. If you choose to defer your VAT payment, as a result of Covid-19, you must pay the VAT due before 31 March 2021. Starting out can be a daunting thought, but you need to start somewhere. After a few events all happening at a difficult time I have made the decision to start my own bookkeeping business. As I will be home with the kids while schools are closed I am going to use this opportunity to start working from home, should my internet connection not fail me and my kids don't drive me crazy too quickly, it seems a good time to start.
